Hart Claims U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour Title

ARCHDALE, N.C. (August 22, 2004) - Action from the Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) Challenger Tour held at the Davis Ranch Arena in Archdale, N.C. wrapped up on Saturday, August 21st following two nights of world class action. J.W. Hart (Gainesville, Texas) owned top honors during the prestigious 6th Annual Coca-Cola Jerome Davis Invitational USSTC Challenger Tour event earning a $6,378 first place pay check. Event promoter Jerome Davis was at the top of his game in the PBR when in March of 1998 at a PBR event he suffered an injury that would forever alter his life; a broken neck which resulted in paralysis from the chest down. Davis remains devoted to the sport of professional bull riding and is heavily committed to the PBR as both an event promoter as well as a stock contractor. During the 1998 PBR World Finals Davis received the coveted PBR "Ring of Honor," an award reserved for those who have made a lasting impression on the sport of professional bull riding.

After qualifying for the Archdale event finals with a solid 86.5 point performance, the "Ironman," J.W. Hart, cinched the championship with a convincing 91.5 point performance aboard Rocket Man. Hart has been campaigning to reclaim a spot among the elite top 45 bull riders competing on the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) using the Challenger Tour events as his catalyst. Archdale marks Hart's biggest win of the current season and his second first place Challenger Tour finish to date in 2004, Weatherford, Texas being his first.

In addition to elite Challenger Tour action, the Archdale event also featured select three and four-year-old bucking bulls during the ABBI Classic Series portion of the competition. Topping the list of Classic Series entries from stock contractors across the country was the bull Shane, owned by Hebert and Frey, whose cumulative score of 178 points was good for $4,782 in ABBI bucks. Prior to winning the Archdale Classic Series title, Shane sat third in the overall Classic Series point standings with 134.5 total points. Archdale earnings elevated Shane's season earnings to an impressive $12,683. D & H Cattle Company's Night Moves led the series prior to Archdale with 159.5 total points and $11,234 in earnings. Stock contractors who participated in the Archdale Classic Series event had the opportunity to qualify their bulls for the richest event in bucking bull history; the ABBI Bucking Bull Classic to be held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 24th. Upcoming Classic Series qualifying events which are currently scheduled to be held in conjunction with USSTC Challenger Tour competitions include Ardmore, Okla. on August 28th and Belton, Texas on September 3rd.
