Bowers Claims U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour Title American Bucking Bull, Inc. Classic Series Results are in ARDMORE, Okla. (August 29, 2004) - Professional Bull Riders (PBR) action sizzled as the Hardy Murphy Memorial Coliseum hosted the inaugural Ardmore Shrine-J.W. Hart Invitational U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) Challenger Tour on August 28th. Robert Bowers of Brooks, Alberta, Canada captured top honors and a $6,839 first place pay check during the one day event which was also a part of the American Bucking Bull, Inc.'s (ABBI) Classic Series Qualifier program. After topping Page and Teague's formidable bull Crossfire Hurricane for an electrifying 92.5 point score to dominate preliminary go round competition, Bowers posted a solid 87.5 point score in the event finals to cinch the championship. Prior to Ardmore, Bowers had earned $11,164 in 2004 Challenger Tour competition and sat 61st in the PBR's Built Ford Tough World Finals Qualifier standings. Bowers, whose career earnings in the PBR total $116,267, may be looking at a trip to the upcoming PBR World Finals thanks in part of the Ardmore victory, which propelled him to well within range of the current 45th spot in the Qualifier standings. Current Built Ford Tough Series point standings leader and two-time PBR World Champion, Adriano Moraes (Cachoeira Paulista, Sao Paulo, Brazil), finished fifth place overall during the Ardmore Shrine-J.W. Hart Invitational. The Ardmore contestant roster represented a virtual who's who in the world of professional bull riding, including the current top five bull riders in the world; Moraes, Justin McBride, Mike Lee, Ross Coleman, and Brendon Clark. The Ardmore event featured select three and four-year-old bucking bulls during the ABBI Classic Series Qualifier portion of the competition. Topping the list of Classic Series entries from stock contractors across the country was the D & H Cattle Company entry Night Moves, who left the event with $5,145 in earnings after a stellar 92 point performance. Shane, owned by Hebert and Frey, scored 91 points which placed him second in the competition for $2,934 in ABBI bucks. The two bulls have dominated recent ABBI competition alternating between first and second position in the ABBI standings during the past several weeks. Stock contractors who participated in the Ardmore Classic Series event had the opportunity to qualify their bulls for the richest event in bucking bull history; the ABBI Bucking Bull Classic to be held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 24th.
