Wrangler ProRodeo Tour rolls on at Laughlin River Stampede LAUGHLIN, Nev. – In only nine years, the Laughlin River Stampede has become one of the most lucrative winter rodeos in ProRodeo. The Laughlin River Stampede, the featured event of the Laughlin Rodeo Days, is a stop on theWrangler ProRodeo Tour, the eighth of 12 in the 2004 winter series. It has been a Tour stop since the Tour’s inception in 2000. The five-day event starts March 31, with the Wrangler Tour round scheduled for April 4 at 1:30 p.m. (PT). The Outdoor Life Network (OLN) will televise the Tour round on May 2 at 7 p.m. ET with additional broadcasts on May 3 at 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. and May 6 at 11 a.m. The rodeo, held at Laughlin Arena, features nearly 600 contestants and pays more than $225,000. Laughlin is located 90 miles southeast of Las Vegas. In 2003, veteran bareback rider Larry Sandvick of Belle Fourche, S.D., rode Korkow Rodeo’s Moose Milk for 83 points and the Tour-round victory. Saddle bronc riders Scott Johnston of Gustine, Texas, and Mike Outhier of Utopia, Texas, shared the Tour-round title with 81-point rides. Other Tour-round winners included steer wrestler J.B. Fudickar of Ferriday, La.; team ropers Mikey Fletcher of Okeechobee, Fla./Travis Woodard of Stockton, Calif.; tiedown roper P.J. Spencer of Sperry, Okla.; bull rider Scott Schiffner of Stettler, Alberta; and barrel racers Heather Henderson of Middleburg, Fla., and Leanne Wolfe of Flora Vista, N.M. SOURCE: PRCA |
